That original blood-spiller,
That first wretched, sibling-killer,
Whose rejected role of brother-keeper
Took the form of grimmest reaper.

With the biggest stone he found,
Cain bashed the shepherd to the ground.
Jealousy, the primal cause
Of the crime pre-dating laws.

But the blood of Abel shouted out
To leave the world without a doubt
That murder of the violent Cain
Would avenge the one unjustly slain.

However, the new child born
To Eve and Adam as they mourned
Received from them the name of Seth
Whose offspring would bring death to death.

For when the Christ was made to die
His blood let out a different cry.
Instead of calling “death to Cain!”
Forgiveness was announced to reign.

With resurrection brought to men,
A better word was spoken then.
With Love the core of all that’s true,
Abel and Cain embrace anew.
